
Tim Lambert, conductor
Tim Lambert is a conductor and tenor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the DePaul Community Chorus and Director of Music at Northfield Community Church. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from Northwestern University, where he studied with Andrew Megill, and a master’s degree in choral conducting from Northwestern under GRAMMY Award-winning conductor Donald Nally. He earned his bachelor’s degree in music education with a concentration in vocal performance from Bucknell University.
As a conductor, Lambert has led ensembles in a wide range of choral and instrumental repertoire. Recent engagements include serving as Assistant Conductor of the Carmel Bach Festival Chorus and guest conductor of the Chicago-based chamber choir Vox Venti. Prior to graduate study, he served as Director of Choirs at Central York High School in York, Pennsylvania, where he led the Concert Choir, Mixed Choir, and Chamber Singers. He was also Director of Music at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in York, conducting choral and handbell ensembles and serving as organist.
Lambert has significant experience in opera as both a conductor and chorus master. With Northwestern Opera Theater, he served as assistant conductor for productions of Viktor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis and the Midwestern premiere of Christopher Cerrone’s In a Grove. He has also prepared opera choruses for productions including Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Puccini’s La bohème, working with conductors including Patrick Furrer and Andrew Bisantz. His conducting experience extends to musical theater as well. With Central York Performing Arts and Williamsport Summer Stock Theater, he has served as musical director and conductor for numerous productions, preparing vocal ensembles and conducting pit orchestras.
As an ensemble singer, Lambert has performed throughout the United States. He sings with the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Grant Park Symphony Chorus, and Music of the Baroque, where he has had the opportunity to work with renowned conductors including Jane Glover and Giancarlo Guerrero. He is also a member of Stare at the Sun, a chamber choir dedicated to the cultivation and performance of contemporary choral music. His broader ensemble work has included collaborations with acclaimed groups such as Conspirare, Roomful of Teeth, Lorelei Ensemble, and the Bang on a Can All-Stars.
As a soloist, Lambert has appeared in operatic and musical theater productions, including Monostatos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Trio in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, Bobby in Sondheim’s Company, and Billy in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. He has also created leading roles in new works, including Thomas Jefferson in the chamber opera Ghosts of Monticello and the title role in A’Musing, which premiered at Piccolo Spoleto Festival USA. His concert solo work includes performances of Bach’s Magnificat and Luciano Berio’s Sinfonia.
