About the Chorus

Founded in 1989, the DePaul Community Chorus (DCC) is a true “community” chorus comprised of 140 members of all ages, ethnicities, spiritual perspectives and varying levels of musical experience. The wide range of repertoire performed includes choral literature of the great composers from the 16th century to the present and also folk songs, spirituals and music from stage and screen.

The DCC presents three concerts each year in DePaul’s Gannon Concert Hall (including one choral masterwork with full orchestra), is featured in the annual campus-wide Christmas at DePaul concerts, and also performs at various community events.

In past seasons the chorus has performed Mozart’s Requiem and C Minor Mass, Bruckner’s Mass in D Minor, Haydn’s Creation and Mass in Time of War, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Schubert’s Mass in E-flat, Brahms’ Requiem, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with full orchestral accompaniment. The DCC has also appeared at Symphony Center, the Shedd Aquarium, the Daley Center Plaza Noontime Concerts Series, and performed with the DePaul University Orchestra and Chorus under the direction of Margaret Hillis.
